REPENTANCE

Day and night those thoughts come to haunt me.
And yet again, I pretend to be human and natural.
Like a perfect gentleman I walk with my head up,
With nothing to hide and be ashamed of.
Deep within there lies the truth,
Which comes to the top every now and again.

If I were time,
I would have stepped back.
If I were tides,
I would have erased the footprints of past.
If I were a tool,
I would have repaired my fault.

A fault that I have done long ago,
Comes to haunt me again and again.
A sin that I can’t admit to anyone,
A dark secret, a dark mole in my past,
That I hate to shed the light upon.
